September 3, 2012, Kitty, The Cat Who Found The Real Catbird Seat

September 3, 2012....Many of us on this Bob Brinker Blog enjoy DanG's comments about technical analysis and market views -- and an occasional humorous barb aimed at Brinker.

You may remember from my other blog that Dan's Kitty found Bob Brinker's Catbird Seat and made good use of it:

Today, Dan wrote that his dear Kitty has now gone on to kitty heaven.  She was 18 years old. She was a rescue cat that Dan's daughter gave to him and his wife.  Kitty stole their hearts, as cats often do.   And making the decision to let her go, because it was best for her, was difficult and painful for them.

My heartfelt condolences, Dan.  I know from experience that Kitty will forever have a place in your heart. You may have other cats that you love, but none will take her place.  That's the wonder of our hearts, there is always room for more love.

IN EDIT: TFB has written his condolences to DanG and mentioned that he lost his cat, Grizzley. I had posted a picture of Grizzley on my former Bob Brinker blog, so took a little trip over there and found Grizzley's picture.  December 14, 2010, TFB wrote:

"I am really bummed. My cat of 22 or 23 years passed away today. He was such a joy in everyone's life. Love ya Grizzly. tfb"

Thanks so much, HoneyBee. It means a lot. You never realize how much you appreciate a little animal until they are gone.

Kitty could be cantankerous at times...especially early in the morning when she would hear me get up and cry until I fed her.

I would try to be quiet so I could get the coffee made first, but I rarely succeeded. She could just sense I was there to do her bidding!

She was our sweetheart for about 6 years. I am sure those were the best 6 years of her 18+.

We're really going to miss her. May she R.I.P.

Thanks, TFB.

It still hurts because we loved the little dickens so darned much. But she was in such pain it was the merciful thing to do. I'm sure it hurt us much more than it did her. :-(

Why would Bob'd news letter reccomend T Rowe Price New Horizon's fund, PRNHX when it is closed to new investors??

Early morning feeding, I try to be quiet too, but our cat won't be fooled either.

Condolences.

Grant Davis,

Good question, but are you sure that PRNHX is closed to new investors?

Yeah Frank, somehow they just KNOW!

Well Dan, my thoughts are sincere. My kitty was with me a bit over half my life when he passed...it really hurt, so I understand what you are going through and my heart goes out to you and yours.

Grant Davis and all,

I have looked into the new T. Rowe Price Fund (PRHNX) and found out that you are mistaken. It is NOT closed to new investors.

Wow! tfb's "Grizzly" was in his early 20's? That's great you got that many years with him, though I still feel your pain at losing him.

I never thought I could become so attached to a cat since I had heard they are so "aloof". Well, that is just not true. They have a way of worming their way into your heart.

If there is a kitty heaven, I'm sure Grizzly was waiting there to greet Kitty and give her the grand tour!

Oh shoot, now my uh..."allergies" are starting to act up again, so I have to go find a handkerchief!

Dan,

Absolutely. When I hear people assert that cats are so "independent" that they don't care about their people, I always know that they have never really spent any time with one.

They become bonded and very affectionate when they are treated with love.

To you cat guys: My condolences.

I presently have two cats, a brother and sister, 7 years old.

Especially being litter-mates, it is remarkable how different they both are. They really do have "personalities." They act differently, they meow differently, they each have their own "nests" around the house, one never using the other's, they show affection differently, etc.

I went from a dog lover to a cat lover nearly 20 years ago and have never looked back!

Bluce,

I had the same experience with my three Himalayans from the same litter.

They were as different as night and day. Each had their own distinctive personalities.

Dolly and Yoda both died last year and all I have left is Lama. It is so sad to see an animal grieving and looking for his siblings. From birth, they were together 13 years.

Dolly died first from kitty asthma. Dolly and Lama were much more attached than Lama and Yoda. They would play together and sleep cuddled up.

The first night after I had to have Dolly put down, Lama looked for her everywhere. I had the carrying case sitting in my bedroom. Lama spent a lot of time looking into it from every side. Then he got up on top, leaned over and looked in from the top.

I knew as well as if he could talk, that he knew that was the last place Dolly had been.

My heart was already breaking because she was so special to me, but when I saw that, it broke even more.

Honey, that is so sad!

I worry about my cats constantly because they go in or out at their leisure. I am surrounded by miles of hardwoods and there are countless ways they could disappear. That happened to another cat I had about 15 years ago.

They were inseparable when young, but after they got to a year or so in age they gave each other some space. But if something happened to one, I'm sure the other would be quite upset.

They have a food hopper that they can access anytime, and they go in or out at will, as I mentioned. It seems they are either sleeping or hunting. But they are totally free and are very happy.

But freedom is always risky, and I am well aware of what could happen to them. Meanwhile, they are enjoying a cat life about as much as is possible.
